From a grassroots movement in Siaya Town to a nationally recognized Public Benefit Organisation — this is the story of how a small team of dedicated youth changed health outcomes for thousands of Kenyans.
GLOBCOM was founded in response to the HIV epidemic, a public health crisis with severe social and economic consequences in Kenya's Lake Region. At the dawn of the 21st century, the late Mr. Barrack Emmanuel Oduor (deceased, 2024) envisioned a just and progressive society where young people could overcome socio-economic challenges and thrive as productive community members.
Inspired by this vision, a group of young health advocates in Siaya — deeply affected by HIV/AIDS — chose not to wait for government or external intervention. They organized, mobilized local communities, and engaged in door-to-door outreach. That small group became GLOBCOM: a youth-led organization rooted in the belief that communities possess the inherent capacity to drive their own transformation.
"We began with limited resources but a strong determination and a clear vision of healthy, productive young people. More than two decades later, that vision remains the driving force behind our work and continues to inspire our commitment to impact."
From day one, GLOBCOM has been guided by three core pillars that define everything we do.
Every GLOBCOM program begins and ends with the community. We listen, co-design, and ensure our work responds to real, expressed needs — not outside assumptions.
We believe in doing what works. All programs are grounded in public health evidence, monitored rigorously, and continuously improved through data-driven learning.
No organization transforms communities alone. GLOBCOM works with county government, international partners, faith institutions, and community leaders to multiply our impact.
A growing trail of impact, partnerships, and community transformation since 2005.
A group of youth health advocates formally register GLOBCOM in Siaya, Kenya, launching a community HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention program with primary focus on adolescents and young people.
Community advocacy programs targeting young people with HIV literacy. Partnered with KANCO in the Global Fund Round 2 program, holding 115+ sensitization sessions reaching 2,360 people across Siaya County.
GLOBCOM launches its first Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) support program, providing educational assistance, psychosocial support, and family strengthening services to over 120 families.
The GLOBCOM Sports Tournament was launched to reach young people with behavior change communication — using sports and arts to engage youth across Siaya County.
GLOBCOM targeted young people with behavioral, biomedical, and structural interventions as a response to HIV prevention programming, reaching 18,314 people through Global Fund NFM2 partnership with Kenya Red Cross.
Amid COVID-19 and rising gender-based violence, GLOBCOM launched a youth behavior change program. The Global Fund NFM3 continued reaching 26,271+ people with HIV prevention services through 2024.
GLOBCOM transforms the My Dream Program into a structured mentorship program — building life skills through community clubs of up to 25 members, with 20+ clubs now active across the county.
By 2030, GLOBCOM aims to be a leading national youth organisation with programs reaching 100,000+ young people annually across at least 10 counties — championing life skills, youth empowerment, and health equity for all young people in Kenya.
We are building the infrastructure, partnerships, and evidence base to scale our most effective programs and respond to emerging youth-related issues including mental health, climate-health linkages, and digital health literacy.
Volunteer, partner, or support us — every contribution helps write a healthier future for Kenya.
